AGM
Each year, the AHS AGM takes place during the annual Conference, between 1st June and 31st July. The Conference, hosted by a full member of the AHS, lasts 2-3 days, and combines the business of the AGM and the intensive handover of Executive and Officers, with the pleasure of networking and socialising. The Conference also features committee training, a guest speaker, and a chance to explore the host city.
Secular Student Conference - Edinburgh, June 2008
After a series of online conversations between students involved in atheist, Humanist and secular societies, the need to meet up and explore the possibilities of working together became obvious. The result was the Secular Student Conference, organised by University of Edinburgh Humanist Society in June 2008, at which the National Federation of Atheist, Humanist and Secular Student Societies got its name and nature, and work towards its founding began. Photos from the Conference can be seen here.
2008 AHS Founding EGM - Leeds
Over the next 5 months following the Secular Student Conference a constitution was drafted, and in November an Extraordinary General Meeting was hosted by Leeds Atheist Society to ratify this constitution, and the AHS was officially founded. The first executive, officers and Trustees were elected, and membership fees were set. Norman Ralph became the first President. Photos from the EGM can be seen here.
2009 AHS AGM - Warwick
The second AHS AGM was held in June 2009, hosted by Warwick Atheist Society, and saw the election of the second Cabinet, with Jenna Catley becoming President. The Regional Development Officer Scheme was launched at this AGM, and the first batch of RDOs were elected. Photos from the weekend can be seen here. That year's annual report and AGM minutes are also available.
2010 AHS AGM - Bristol
The third AGM was hosted by Bristol Atheist, Agnostic and Secular Society. Richy Thompson was elected the third President, and the AHS was reconstituted to be facilitated and supported by the British Humanist Association. The new (and current) website was launched at the AGM, and the weekend also featured a mixture of training events, socialising and exploring Bristol. Photos from the weekend can be seen here. That year's AGM minutes are also available, as is the invitation that went to attendees.
2011 AHS Convention and EGM - UCL
The AHS's third annual convention saw an Extraordinary General Meeting, hosted by UCL, at which it was voted for the AHS to expand to cover the Republic of Ireland, as well as the UK. More on the weekend can be seen here, and the minutes from the EGM are also available.
