AHS AGM 2012: The Presidential Race Is On!

Presidential candidates Jessica Vautier and Emma Bryce
AHS AGM Executive Elections at 14:00 this Saturday
The manifestos are in and the Presidential race is officially on! Emma Bryce and Jessica Vautier are vying for the top spot at the AHS and have published their manifestos. Who will win? YOU decide!
Jess: Hello, I am Jessica Vautier. I am currently the AHS’s Head of Membership and am seeking your support to become AHS President for the academic year 2012-2013. I am a 22 year old law student. I was President of the University of Southampton Atheist Society for the academic year 2010-2011, where I was able to promote student atheism by instituting a popular 'reason week' and inviting high-profile speakers such as Simon Singh. As AHS’s Head of Membership I have worked very closely with the current executive as well as with our excellent 13-strong team of Regional Development Officers (RDOs). I am also now on the organising committee for Westminster Skeptics, one of the most popular skeptics in the pub groups in the UK. READ ON
Emma: I'm currently at university in Durham, having just finished my degree in Combined Social Sciences, and just about to start a Masters in 'Culture and Difference' (basically a mix of Philosophy and Anthropology). I've been involved in the AHS since my 2010, after I became President of Durham University Humanist and Secularist Society the year after it was founded. While I was President, society membership quadrupled, and we transformed into a well-known society with weekly events, and good relationships with local and university groups (even the Christian Union!). We held our first Reason Week (on a worryingly low budget) with events of over 200 people, which was nominated for Durham's Best Student-run Event, and was featured by the BBC and other press outlets. There's still time to run for the position of Secretary and Treasurer of the AHS too, both incredibly important roles with executive power equal to that of the President, so please put yourself forward at the AGM. Other roles will also be available for those wanting to get more involved with the AHS, full descriptions here
Tickets for the AHS AGM are still available and there are a few places left in the hostel for those who want them - BOOK NOW to ensure you don't miss out!
