Board of Trustees
The board of trustees are responsible for holding the assets of the organisation in trust and ensuring the organisation is working within the law.
Andrew Copson
Andrew is Director of Education and Public Affairs at the British Humanist Association and a trustee of the South Place Ethical Society, the Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association and the European Humanist Federation as well as of AHS. He coordinates the BHA's campaigns for a secular state, for an end to religious privilege and discrimination based on religion or belief and for a rational humanist perspective on public ethical issues. He also coordinates the BHA's education work promoting understanding of Humanism as a non-religious worldview both in formal school and college curricula and to the public at large. He has written on these issues for The Guardian and New Statesman as well as various journals and is a Member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and an Associate of the Centre for Law and Religion at Cardiff University.
Alex Gibson
Alex Gibson is a former President and Secretary of the Oxford Secular Society and an intermittently published writer. He has always believed that students are a lot more passionate than people give them credit for, and is very happy to be associated with an organisation that is going to prove it. A classic product of the Catholic education system, Alex is currently seeking excommunication and reckons working with AHS is his best shot.
Chris Worfolk
Chris first got involved with the free thinking movement at the University of Leeds where he founded Leeds Atheist Society to provide a voice for non-religious students on a campus dominated by faith societies. Since then he has gone up to found Secular Portal and subsequently the AHS as well as running Leeds Skeptics in the Pub and hosting the Chris Worfolk Podcast which features round table discussions on religion, science and skepticism. He currently sits on the board of trustees for the AHS as well as running the online operations.
